"St. John's Church served Raleigh and Boone Counties' black populations. It sits in Seng Creek in an area known as "Garrison," maybe as much as three miles from there to Route 3. Right now it sadly awaits demolition. Its bell and its pews have been removed. Many a voice has lifted up a prayer to God from this little church in the mountains."..... Charles Bradford.
